How the numbers on this site are verified

Every tax-year table on this site is transcribed from Federal Board of Revenue documents rather than quoted from a news summary. The steps below are the ones actually followed, and the page ends with the limits of what that process can claim.

Method described: 10 October 2026

  1. 1. Read the proposal

When a Budget is announced, the Finance Bill and the Salient Features of the Budget are taken from FBR and the clauses touching the salaried individual schedule are read against the previous year’s text. The figures copied into this site come from those documents, not from a news summary.

  2. 2. Wait for the enacted law

A Finance Bill is not the law until the Finance Act is passed. The working table is kept from the Bill until the Act is available, then re-read against the Act because thresholds and rates do occasionally move between the two.

  3. 3. Transcribe, then check the transcription

Each band goes into a year data file as a lower bound, an upper bound, a fixed amount and a rate. The fixed amount in every band must equal the tax the previous band produces at its top, which is what keeps the ladder continuous. A test asserts that property for every schedule in the repository, so a mistyped threshold fails the build rather than reaching a payslip.

  4. 4. Compare against a second reading

The transcribed table is checked against at least one independent reproduction of the same schedule — a chartered-accounting firm’s summary or the budget paper — before the year is marked verified. Where the sources disagree, the disagreement is described on the page instead of being averaged away.

  5. 5. Record what was checked and when

Each year carries a last-verified date and the document list it was checked against, printed beside the numbers on every page that uses them. The date is the day the comparison was made, not the day the page was built.

  6. 6. Say what is still open

Verification has limits and they are stated. FBR gazette PDFs on this site’s schedule pages are scanned images, so the enacted text is confirmed through its published Bill and reputable reproductions rather than a machine-readable gazette file. Any figure the sources do not establish is left off the page rather than estimated.

What was checked, year by year

These blocks are generated from the same data the calculators read, so this page cannot drift away from the schedules it describes.

Sources for the 2025-26 schedule

How far this check goes. Checked on 2026-10-10 against the Finance Bill 2025 and the Salient Features, which is where the surcharge cut from 10% to 9% for salaried individuals is recorded. The gazette copy of the Finance Act 2025 is a scanned image with no text layer, so this table was confirmed from the text-bearing documents above and from annotated reproductions published by chartered accountant firms — not extracted from the scan.

Sources for the 2026-27 schedule

How far this check goes. Checked on 2026-10-10 against the Finance Bill 2026 and the Salient Features, both live on that date. The Finance Act 2026 is the enacted counterpart; its gazette PDF is a scanned image, so the band figures were confirmed from the text-bearing FBR documents above rather than extracted from the scan.

Corrections

Reports that a figure is out of date or wrong are acted on before any new page is written. Send the year, the band, and the document you are reading to paktaxtool@gmail.com; the schedule is re-checked against the source, the corrected data is rebuilt, and the change is recorded in the changelog with the date it was made.

Advertising does not decide content

The site may show advertising, and advertising partners have no say in which figures are published, how a calculator rounds, or what a page concludes. No calculator result, source list, or verification note on this site is placed, worded, or ordered by a commercial partner.

What “verified” does not mean

A verified schedule is a verified transcription of published law for one tax year. It is not a determination of your liability: reliefs, credits, employer arrangements, and provisions outside the salaried table are not represented, and the law can change again before the next Budget. Confirm your own position on the FBR IRIS portal or with a tax professional before filing.
