Tax term

Fiscal year

Pakistan’s government financial year, running from July through June.

In government usage the fiscal year is the July-to-June accounting period, so 2025-26 covers 1 July 2025 through 30 June 2026. Salaried payroll follows the same rhythm, which is why the monthly schedule this site produces divides estimated annual tax across those twelve payroll months rather than across calendar months; a raise, a bonus or a job change during the year alters the annual figure and therefore the bands. The division is exact rather than rounded loosely. An annual estimate of Rs 61,000 is spread as Rs 5,084 for the first four payroll months and Rs 5,083 for the remaining eight, so the twelve rows still total the annual figure shown. Typical mistakes are comparing a single month’s deduction with an annual liability and carrying a previous year’s table into a new fiscal year. Match the year printed on the schedule to the payroll period, and verify the current official figures with FBR.
