Tax refund

An amount potentially repayable when eligible tax payments exceed final liability.

A reconciliation result rather than a form you submit, a refund arises when eligible payments exceed the liability finally computed. Salaried cases appear after a bonus projection over-deducts, when certificates show Rs 78,000 against an estimate of Rs 72,000 on income of Rs 1,800,000, or when two employers each deduct during a job change. The first step is deciding which side of the difference is wrong, because over-deduction on a payslip does not prove an overpayment to FBR until the amount actually deposited and the return agree. Claims then move through the return and whatever process and timing the rules for that year set; this repository records no refund timetable, and none is implied here. The usual mistakes are counting one withholding twice and budgeting against a claim. Keep certificates and payment evidence, reconcile them line by line, and verify status with FBR.
