How salary tax is estimated
- 1Annual income = monthly salary × 12 + bonus + taxable allowances.
- 2Subtract only allowed deductions.
- 3Apply the selected annual slab formula progressively.
- 4Divide annual tax by 12 for an average monthly tax.
Worked example: Rs 100,000 / monthly
Rs 100,000 × 12 = Rs 1,200,000 annual salary. Under the 2025-26 slab table, estimated annual tax is Rs 6,000, or Rs 500 per month. Taxable allowances, eligible deductions, and other personal facts may change the result.

Filer vs non-filer
Filing and Active Taxpayer List status can affect withholding on certain transactions. It does not mean a separate flat salary-tax rate applies to every non-filer. Check current FBR status and transaction-specific rules.

Frequently asked questions
How is annual income calculated?
Multiply monthly salary by twelve, then add bonus and taxable allowances. For example, a Rs 100,000 monthly salary starts at Rs 1,200,000 annual income.
Can I subtract every deduction?
Only include deductions allowed by the applicable rules and supported by your records.
How are the tax slabs applied?
This estimate uses the selected slab fixed amount plus its rate on income above that slab threshold.
Does a higher slab tax all my income?
Generally a marginal rate applies only above its threshold; verify the exact tax-year law.
Can a bonus change salary tax?
A taxable bonus can raise annual income; actual withholding timing depends on payroll.
Why can this differ from my payslip?
Other deductions, benefits, bonus timing, and employer withholding adjustments affect net pay.
Is this an official calculation?
